Great Effort by Dundas Comes Up Just Short
The Dundas PeeWee AE Blues put in one of their best efforts of the season against the league powerhouse, the Oakville Rangers, but 3 power play goals and an empty netter propelled the Rangers to a 5-2 win, in OMHA Playdown action on January 26th at the Market Street Arena.

Both teams knew that the last time the Rangers came to Dundas, the Blues handed Oakville their own loss of the year.  And, after one period, the home side was well positioned to give it a shot to make it two in a row.  Willie Tanner punched home a Bradley Wright shot midway through the frame, and after one, Dundas led 1-0.  Matthew Persadie was the difference early on, stoning the visitors at every opportunity with excellent goaltending.

The Rangers tied it early in the second period, on the power play, before scoring again shortly after, to take a 2-1 lead.  Late in the period, they connected once more with the man advantage, and were up 3-1 with a period to play.

But the Blues didn't quit, and in the opening minute of the third period, Drew Kloschinsky fired a shot from the point, that found it's way through a maze of legs and sticks, and into the back of the net.  When Matt Czum was hauled down on a breakaway a few minutes later, he had a chance to tie it with the resulting penalty shot.  However, the Rangers netminder was up to the challenge, to keep the margain at a goal.  Dundas had several more good chances, including a few more breakaways, but couldn't get the equalizer.  With just over a minute left in regulation, Oakville collected their third power play goal of the game, before adding an empty net marker, to make the final 5-2.

Kudos to both teams in a very well played, and exciting game.  The Blues should be encouraged by their effort, and look to build on it, when they next return to action, on Wednesday, January 30th, as they face off in Georgetown against the Raiders.
