Go Bee Flames Earn Top Spot
Our Flames were stoked in their final round robin play off game against the Stars. The first period was tight with with both goal tenders,Nick Schmalz (Flames) and Cal Tanner (Stars), making miraculous saves. A couple of Stars penalties seemed to ignite the Flames offence pressure which resulted in a 8-2 victory for the Flames.
Goals for the Go Bee Flames came from Foster Deighton (3G, 1A), Liam Quinlan, Matthew Gilbreath, Sage Sulentic, Josh Verschoor and Adam Wright. The Flames 3 Stars of the game went Foster and Josh for their strong play at both ends of the ice and to Nick for his solid performance between the pipes.
With this win, the Flames earned top spot for the playoffs leading with 6 pts, followed by the Kings (3 pts), Canucks (2 pts) and Stars (1 pt).
Let's all cheer on our Flames this Saturday at 10 am for Semi-final action against the Stars. Tell your family and friends to come wearing Red and Yellow, bring the horns and noise makers and support our kids! No matter what happens this Saturday it has been a rewarding season to see all these players come so far and most importantly it appears they have all had fun doing so.
