Go Bee Flames Advance to Finals!!
The Sem-Final game between the Go Bee Flames and the Stars was a thrill for all fans. I imagine both coaches are still trying to calm down after this intense game. The Flames scoring started off with a pass from Madison Fines to Foster Deighton who charged down the ice scoring the first goal of the game. The Stars came back strong with a goal of their own to tie it up.
The Stars team seemed strong throughout the game, however, the Flames offense was able to take advantage of a couple of turnovers and capatilize on a Sage Sulentic goal assisted by Ethan Girard and a third unassisted goal by Robbie McHarg to move ahead 3-1. The Stars relentlous effort seemed to smother the Flames with shot after shot taken on net minder Tyler Carson. Coach Geoff Chinn was extactic to see his Stars shine with two spectacular goals to tie the game up in the third period. All the fans were on the edge of their seats as the game went into overtime.
The Stars came out in the 5 minute sudden death overtime period with a couple of break away shots that were denied by Carson in net. Overtime then continued with 1 minute periods of 3 on 3, 2 on 2 and finally with one on one where Josh Verschoor of the Flames and Kalan Bliss faced off. It was an aggressive fight by both at the face off, but Josh eventually came out with the puck and became the hero of the day with the game winning goal. Final score Flames 4 - Stars 3.
The Flames 3 stars of the game went to Tyler Carson for his 21 saves, Madison Fines whose offensive play in front of the net created several scoring opportunities and to Ethan Girard for his solid defensive play.
The Go Bee Flames move onto face the Dodge Caravan Canucks on Championship day at 9:30 a.m., Saturday March 2nd at J.L. Grightmire Arena on Market Street. Come with your Red and Yellow colours, noise makers and flags and cheer on our Flames.
