Tri-County Championship on the Line
The Dundas Nine-O Tyke Blues had a busy week attempting to repeat their Tri-County Championship title.

On Monday night, the Blues took to the road and faced the Shamrocks who had the luck of St. Patrick on the ice. Although Blues sniper, Declan Forth was the first to get a puck past the Shamrock net minder, the luck of the Irish prevailed with the Shamrocks finding the net twice in the second period.  The Blues dominated the third period of play, but the Shamrocks proved victorious securing the 2-1 victory.  Assists went to Zachary Klapman and Martin VandenHeuvel .  Defensive standouts included Matthew Taylor and Sean Tutt, with Blues net minder, Adam Edwards proving instrumental in keeping the Shamrock offense in check.

On Thursday, the tables turned when the Blues hosted the Shamrocks at Market Street. With the town’s support behind them, the Blues out played the Shamrocks in all aspects of the game.  Once again, Forth opened the scoring for the Blues in the first period, securing a 1-0 lead, but the Shamrocks tied up the game in the second.  The Blues dominated play in the third, scoring three beautiful goals in the second minute of play compliments of Kael Andrew, VandenHeuvel, and Owen Cox.  Although the Shamrocks scored in the third, the Blues domination lead to the 4-2 victory.  Assists for the game went to Forth, Logan VandenHeuvel, Ben Rego, and Andrew. Defensive standouts included Coy Gordon and Klapman, with Alex Gazzola ruling between the pipes.

On Sunday, the Blues headed back to Hespeler for game three. The Blues started out strong, securing a 2-1 lead in the first period with goals from Kael Andrew and Martin VandenHeuvel. The Shamrocks battled back and found the net four more times, grabbing the 5-2 victory over the Blues.

The Shamrocks enter game four with a 2-1 lead in this best of five series against the Blues for the Tri-County Championship title.  We invite all Dundas hockey fans to Market St. Arena this Wednesday night to cheer on the Tyke Blues as the attempt to force game five. Puck drops at 7:00 PM.
