Doan Outstanding as Blues Lose to Sabres
Noah Doan faced 50 shots, including leaving the net briefly after being injured, as the Dundas Bantam AE Blues, sponsored by Nordic Gold Salmon Products, dropped a 5-1 final to the Flamborough Sabres, in Tri-County Russell action on November 30th at the Market Street Arena.

Both teams played well defensively in the opening period, limiting the chances.  The visitors held an 8-4 edge in shots on goal, and scored the first goal of the game in the final minute of the period.

Early in the second, on the power play, Jonny Brown wired a wrist shot that handcuffed the Flamborough goaltender, with the puck bouncing high in the air over the goalie, landing and rolling into the net, to knot the score 1-1.  Midway through the period, Doan was forced to temporarily leave the game, after being elbowed in the head.  Silas Wauben-Scott entered the game for Dundas, but without the benefit of a warmup, was beaten on the second shot he faced, as the Sabres regained the lead.  Doan returned shortly thereafter, and the score remained 2-1 with a period to play.

In the third period, Doan was outstanding, facing 28 shots.  Flamborough was able to score three power play markers, to take the 5-1 final.

The Blues are right back on the ice at Market Street on Sunday, December 1st, when they face the New Hamburg Huskies.  The puck drops at 6:45pm.
