Great Effort As Blues Drop Playoff Opener to Shamrocks
The Dundas Bantam AE Blues, sponsored by Nordic Gold Salmon Products, opened the first round of the OMHA Playdowns on Sunday, January 12th at the Market Street Arena, dropping a thrilling 4-3 final to the Hespeler Shamrocks.

Off the opening faceoff, the visitors struck early and often.  They led 3-0 midway through the opening frame, and carried the same margin into the second period.

The Blues turned their intensity up a couple of notches as the second period began.  They were rewarded in the early minutes, as Tommy Stevens chipped a puck back to Nathan Zontanos at the point.  The defenseman wired a hard shot along the ice, and Drew Kloschinsky was their to pick up the rebound, and fire it into the back of the Hespeler net.  Less than a minute later, Matt Czum emerged from a mad scramble in front of the visitor's net, and brought the home side to within a goal.

Both teams had chances in the final frame, and after a rough start, Noah Doan was outstanding in the net for the Blues  After the Shamrocks restored a 2 goal margin, Liam Horning cut the deficit to a single goal once again, assisted by Czum and Ethan Riggs.

Dundas did everything they could, but weren't able to get the equalizer.

The Blues return to action on Friday, January 17th, when they face the Shamrocks in a rematch.
