Character Building Playoff Games for the Novice Blues
After an extremely successful regular season, the Allstate/Copetown Woods Dundas Novice Blues have begun their playoff run towards an OMHA Championship and League Championship.

While the Blues await an OMHA Championship series opponent to emerge from a series between Amherstburg and Riverside (both Windsor area), the Blues started their Niagara District Hockey League playoffs against the Lincoln Blades last week.  After a tightly matched affair that saw the Blues and Blades in a 3-3 tie with just less than five minutes to play, the Blues emerged victorious after two late goals.  Goal scorers on the night were Martin VandenHeuvel, Logan VandenHeuvel, Christopher Cheeseman and Kael Andrew, with helpers coming from Declan Forth and the VandenHeuvel brothers.  Alex Gazzola was strong in the crease for the Blues with great defensive play from Josh Verschoor and Coy Gordon.

Sunday night saw one of the Blues toughest opponents come to town, the Grimsby Kings.  The Blues carried much of the play and had multiple scoring opportunities on a Kings goalie that couldn’t be beat.   The Kings pulled ahead with a 1-0 lead that stayed until Declan Forth sent Martin VandenHeuvel up ice that ended in a top shelf goal with only 1:06 left on the clock to end the game in a 1-1 tie.  Adam Edwards stood tall between the pipes and Zack Klapman held his own on the blue line for the Blues in this character building playoff game.

The Blues step on the ice on Monday night as they take on the Port Colborne Sailors followed by a trip to Welland on the weekend.  After the single round-robin is complete, the top two teams will play in a best 2 of 3 series for the NDHL Championship.    Stay tuned for further schedule updates when the Blues will battle for only the 5th OMHA Championship in Dundas Minor Hockey history.
