Blues and Trappers Provide a Night to Remember
On Monday, October 20th at the Market Street Arena, the Dundas Blues Bantam AE, sponsored by Persadie Medicine, and the Tilburg Trappers, a team from the Netherlands, put on a show those in attendance will remember for a long time.  For the players and the parents, it was a night they will never forget.  The Trappers emerged victorious 8-4, but the final score was the least important aspect of the night.

Following the presentation of the flags of both countries, the singing of both national anthems, and a few pre game ceremonies, it was time for hockey.  And both teams put on a show.

The Trappers showed why they are the defending national U14 champions of the Netherlands, as they skated so very well.  This seemed to spur on the Blues, who matched them in a game that included a lot of skill, and despite the score, some great goaltending.

Tilburg scored the first three goals of the game, before Dundas got to within one on goals by Gareth Bachellier and Max Holmes.  For Bachellier, it was his first Rep goal, sure to be a special one in his career.  The second period ended 5-3 for the visitors, as Holmes fired home his second on the night.

In the third, the Trappers showed they has lots left in the tank, tallying three times, before Paul Robson completed the scoring.  Evan Hutcheon, also a first year Rep player, played his best game in Blue and Yellow, adding two assists.

Following the game, the players exchanged gifts, and even swapped jerseys.  The post game reception showed that hockey can bring together kids from halfway around the world.

Many thanks to all the organizers, and especially all of those who attended.  Over six boxes and several bags of food were donated, and a great deal of money was also collected.  It was a night no one will forget, and both teams are grateful for everyone involved.
