Blues Down Wolves
It wasn't pretty, but the Dundas Blues Bantam AE, sponsored by Persadie Medicine, did just enough to pick up a 2-1 win over the Niagara-On-The-Lake Wolves, in Niagara Belcot action on December 13th at the Market Street Arena.
The game started out great for the home side, as Drew Kloschinsky fired one home from just outside the face-off circle a minute into the contest. Mason Baker and Kyle Young picked up the assists. After one, Dundas led 1-0, holding a decisive 13-4 edge in shots on goal.
The Blues struck again in the final minute of the second, as Gareth Bachellier, stole a clearing pass, and found the back of the net, for a shorthanded tally. Again, Dundas held the edge in shots, 10-7.
But the Wolves kept skating, and started to wear the Blues down, thanks in part to some unnecessary penalties on the part of Dundas. Midway through the final period, the visitors finally got on the board, but Caleb Kierstead shut the door the rest of the way, to preserve the win. Niagara-On-The-Lake outshot the home side 12-7 in the third, but Dundas held a 30-23 edge overall.
The Blues return to action on Tuesday, December 16th, when they travel to St. Catharines, to face the Garden City Merritton AE Bulldogs.
