NOVICE BLUES STRONG AT HOME TO FORCE FINAL GAME
The Copetown Woods/Allstate Dundas Novice Blues were put to a test this weekend; a test of determination, character and strength.  And they passed all of the tests with flying colours.

Down 2-0 in a best 3 out of 5 series versus the Riverside Rangers for the OMHA Novice ‘A’ Championship, the Blues had their backs against the wall needing to win both games at home.  With over 500 people in Market St. Arena, the Novice Blues showed up to play, and didn’t give Riverside a chance to get in the game. A pair of goals by each Martin VandenHeuvel and Kael Andrew with helpers from Kai Sulentic, Sean Tutt, Declan Forth, Logan VandenHeuvel and Andrew, and a spectacular shutout by Adam Edwards led the Blues to a 4-0 victory.  The Blues defense was stellar with a huge game from Josh Verschoor and Gus Taylor along with Megan Kosempel playing one of her best games of the year.

On Sunday the Blues hoped to rinse and repeat Saturday’s performance and once again the fans came out in droves.  After a nail biter of a first period the Blues found themselves up by one after Kai Sulentic opened the scoring on a great pass from Ben Rego.  Riverside tied it up halfway through the second period, but the Blues took the lead to 2-1 with a goal from Declan Forth , but was matched only 12 seconds later by Riverside to notch it up at 2-2.  The Blues kept the pedal down with Declan Forth getting his second to put the Blues up by one.  Kael Andrew found the back of the net before the end of the second period, while in the third Logan VandenHeuvel got himself a pair of goals and Forth rounded out his hat trick.  The strong play of Christopher Cheeseman, Sean Tutt, Coy Gordon and Zack Klapman pushed Riverside to the edge and again Adam Edwards was strong between the pipes in this fast paced game that ended in a 7-3 win for the Blues.

The Blues now head back to Windsor this Saturday at 5:15 for a winner takes all battle for the OMHA Championship.  With a short three hour drive down the 401, the Blues hope to see plenty of Dundas support at the game!
