Kierstead Perfect As Blues Blank Wolves
Caleb Kierstead stopped all 22 shots to record the shutout, as the Dundas Blues Bantam AE, sponsored by Persadie Medicine, downed the Niagara-On-The-Lake Wolves 3-0, in Niagara Belcot action on January 7th in Niagara-On-The-Lake.

The visitors controlled play in the opening period, outshooting their opposition 8-3 in the scoreless frame.   As has been the case in the previous three meetings between the teams, Reuben Eshuis was solid in goal for the Wolves.

It was more of the same in the second, with the Blues again holding an edge in shots, 9-4.  Dundas opened the scoring midway through the frame, on a nifty solo effort from Max Holmes.

A four minute penalty to open the third saw the Blues back in their end for an extended period for the first time in the game, but Kierstead was solid.  The Dundas defense did a good job of keeping it simple, and the forwards were there to hop on loose pucks.  Despite being outshot 15-14 in the frame, the visitors made it 2-0, when Jaden Vallentin jumped on a rebound from a nice shot from Luke Hamilton.  Kieran Thornewell also picked up an assist.  More penalty trouble allowed the Wolves to press, but Holmes found an empty net to seal the victory.  Kierstead made a couple of great saves in the waning seconds, to preserve the shutout.

The Blues return home for the first time in 2015 on Saturday, January 10th, when they will face the Welland Minor squad, in an 8:30pm puck drop.
