Minor Atom Blues Heading to 'AA' OMHA Semifinals
The Allstate/Copetown Woods Minor Atom Blues had one job to do this past weekend, and that was to close out their quarter-final series against the Niagara Falls Flyers. The Blues had the Flyers backs against the wall needing only a tie or a win to move on to the 'AA' OMHA Playdowns Semi-Finals.

On Saturday Blues headed to the Gale Centre where they faced a Flyers goaltender that they knew was going to be tough, and that he was.  The Blues dominated play throughout the opening period which included the Blues defense not allowing a scoring opportunity on their own net, however they couldn’t seem to break down the wall on the other side for a goal.  The second period was much of the same, but when called upon Alex Gazzola turned into a wall himself in the Blues net.

It wasn’t until 12:18 mark of the 3rd period that Martin VandenHeuvel broke the ice to get the Blues on the board. Once the wall had been cracked it continued to fall as VandenHeuvel once again found the back of the net just three minutes later. Kael Andrew continued the destruction by adding two more goals himself as the Blues held on for a 4-0 victory.

The Blues now head into the OMHA Semi-Finals and face one of their largest rivals, the Caledon Hawks. The support of the entire community will be a huge factor to push the Blues into the Finals, which would be the only time a Dundas team has ever played for a ‘AA’ OMHA Championship.  Game times will be posted very soon, so check back often for updates!
