Blues Open Playdowns on Winning Note
The Dundas PeeWee AE Blues, sponsored by S D Davis & Associates, began the OMHA Playdowns on a winning note on Sunday, January 13th at the Market Street Arena, downing the Hespeler Shamrocks 11-1. The Blues broke open a close 1-0 game in the second period, with two shorthanded goals on the same penalty kill.
Opening the post-season always means some nervous energy. Dundas had to be wary of a Hespeler team who had played them very close in two games in December. The Blues put in a very workmanlike first period, coming away with a 1-0 lead.
The turning point in the game was a Dundas penalty midway through the second period, when the Blues tallied twice while shorthanded. The home side led 4-0 after two.
Dundas stretched the margain to 8-0, before the Shamrocks got on the board. The Blues found the net a few more times as they went on to the win.
Willie Tanner had a 6 point game for Dundas, including his first career Rep hat trick. Parsa Norouzian and Bradley Wright had two goals and two assists apiece. For Norouzian, he reaches the 20 goal mark on the season. Matt Czum also scored twice, while Kevin Rorie and Jesse Davis added singles.
The Blues continue the Playdowns on Wednesday, January 16th at the Market Street Arena. when they get their first look of the year at the Georgetown Raiders, in a 7:00pm face-off.
