Blues Score Three Straight to Upend Acton
The Dundas PeeWee AE Blues, sponsored by S D Davis & Associates, scored three straight goals in the second period, to break open a scoreless tie, and the three goals were all they would need, downing the Acton Tanners 3-0, in Tri-County Russell playoff action on February 27th at the Market Street Arena.
Both teams skated well in the opening period, but neither squad was able to get on the board, thanks to great goaltending from Mathew Adkins in the Acton net, and Caleb Kierstead in the Dundas goal.
Midway through the second period, Brad Wright picked up a loose puck, and make a great individual effort, to open the scoring. The Blues then struck twice in succession on the power play. First, Kevin Rorie scored, assisted by Jonnny Brown and Parsa Norouzian. Then, Brett Parry whacked home a loose puck, with Wright and Jesse Davis recording assists.
Dundas played a smart third period, to preserve the lead, and help Kierstead earn the shutout. To a man, the Blues had a strong game, including Brett Punchard, who celebrated his birthday with a stellar performance.
Dundas closes out their round robin league play on Friday, March 1st, when they make the trek to Elmira, to face off against the tough Woolwich Wildcats. The puck drops at 7:30pm.
