Blues Start Strong, Can't Hang On
The Dundas PeeWee AE Blues, sponsored by S D Davis & Associates, played a very strong road game for the first half of their OMHA Playdown game in Oakville on January 22nd. But the Blues couldn't sustain the effort for the entire contest, falling 6-0 to the strong Rangers squad.
Until the midway point of the second period, the Blues matched the Rangers stride for stride, hit for hit. Playing a team who lost only one game all year (to them earlier in the season), Dundas knew they needed to execute their game plan to near perfection. For the most part, they did. And when Oakville was able to penetrate the offensive zone, Caleb Kierstead was outstanding in goal for the Blues.
Finally, with just under 7 minutes to play, the home side solved Kierstead, and got on the board. They added another one later in the frame, to lead 2-0 heading into the final period.
At that point, the visitors stopped skating, and stopped doing the things they did so well earlier in the game. Oakville scored 4 times in the third to win going away.
The team meet again on January 26th, this time at the Market Street Arena in Dundas. The puck drops at 5:00pm.
