The Dundas Nine-O Tyke Blues hosted the
Halton Hills Thunder and the Erin-Hillsborough Devils this past weekend in
Tri-County action. The Blues held court
and walked away with two decisive victories.
On Saturday the Thunder arrived at Olympic Arena, but the Blues were not scared off. The Blues jumped out to a 6 - 0 lead on goals by Martin Vandenheuvel and Gus Taylor with two a piece, and Kael Andrew and Kai Sulentic with singles. Assists went to Christopher Cheeseman, Meghan Kosempel, Zachary Klapman, Taylor, Sulentic, and Andrew.
The Blues cruised to a 6-3 win, backstopped by the goal tending of Adam Edwards, and the strong defensive play of Shawn Tutt, Coy Gordon and Jason MacNeil.
On Sunday the Devils came to town, but the Blues were ready again. The Blues jumped out to a 4-0 first period lead, on goals by Vandenheuvel (2), Andrew and Declan Forth. Helpers went to Sulentic and Kyle Wheaton. Vandenheuvel completed the hat trick in the second, and the blues held on to 5-2 victory on strong goal tending by Alex Gazzola.
